’55 Ford Mainline

55 Ford

This 1955 Ford Mainline, affectionately named “Bubba” came to me several months ago. The owner wanted to leave the exterior patina, but wanted the interior freshened up. Once I got started, it was all or nothing.

This ’55 was the base model for Ford that year. It did not come with a radio, interior courtesy lights, or even heat. Bubba does have a rare dealer add-on heater under the dash!

What I did:

  • New headliner with Dynamat and insulation
  • New door panels
  • New front and rear seat upholstery
  • Convert fixed-back front bench to hinged
  • New windshield and seals on the front and back
  • Replacement fiber package tray and toe kick panels
  • New windlace around doors
  • Complete refinishing of metal trim and dash

What I started with:

The end result:

All factory original fabrics were used for headliner, seats and door panels. The front seat was made foldable to allow easy access to the back seat.

By the time we were done, road salts were everywhere. Bubba got a piggyback ride home to wait for spring. So long Bubba!
